(Received March 29,7 p.n.) London, March 28. In the House of Commons, Sir E. Grey, Parliamentary Secretary to the Foreign Office, said the Government had requested Franco to explain the nature of intentions of the two expeditions operating within the Royal Niger Company's splioro in Africa.

In reply to another question, Sir E. Groy said England would regard the presence of a French expedition in the Nilo Valley as an unfriendly act. (Receiyed, March 30, 10.30 a.m.) Loudon, March 29. Sir E. Grey, in reply to a question, said that Germany, Italy, and the Congo State, had recognised the British sphere on the Upper Nile, and other powers wore aware of the other claims, and had never disputed their validity. He had no reason to believe the French expedition was advancing on the Upper Nile, and was not aware whether the French expedition had yet reached the Niger territory. The nows was serious if true, he went on to say, and undoubtedly the actions of the' French in Siam and Africa, had caused anxiety and uneasiness to England. On her part she had striven to maintain good relations, but if they wero to he preserved, cooperation witli the French Government and people was necessary.
