Ottawa, March 20. TheCauadianPresswelcomethoproposals for a Union with Newfoundland, but think the hitter's terms are exorbitant. The St John's Government has intimated that before federating with Canada, she must agree to bore a tunnel under the Strait of Belle Isle at once. This is a narrow passage between the island and the coast of Labrador, 10 miles wide. It is claimed that the construction would reduce the time of voyage from England by one third.
