(Ky Telegraph,—Press Association.) Donkbin, Friday. At the Tariff Commission, representatives from the fruit importers, protested against the increase of duty on fruit, and asked for a reduction on the samo, and said that wlmt with damaged and bruised fruit, the duty was equal to thirty-five per cent., ml valorem. Now Zealand fruit growers were not able to supply the demand, but if thov did, and packed it properly, there would bo no occasion for tl iic increased duty, as the consumers would prefer locally-grown produce.
