METTING OF SETTLERS.
MR.McWAN AT MNGITUMAU A meeting of settlers was bold at Rangitumau on Saturday last, Mr J. Stuckcy occupying the chair, to hear Mr McEwan, Government Kxpert,on the Dairy Question. Almost all the settlors in the Hangitumuu district were present, Jlr McEwan gave a short but interesting discourse, which was much appreciated, after which questions were asked, and an informal discussion followed, which elicited much information. MrMcEwan considers ho has not seen a valley with greater natural capabilities for dairying than the Kaka-a-mau, and it is only for the settlers to put their shoulder to the wheel and develop the resources of its luxurious pastures and abundant supply of pure water, which will then not only give them a good living for themselves and their families, but also enable them to put' by something for the future. It was decided to hold a meeting at the same place on Thursday next at 7 p.m., to arrange for the erection of a factory. A vote of thanks lo Mr McEwan and the chairman concluded a pleasant meeting at about 10.30.
