CYCLING.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Napikk, Wednesday. Sborlaud, of Cbristchurch, who essays the lowering of the cyclist recorilbetween Napierand Wellington, started at ten last night, receiving a hearty send-off, and a number °of local men accompanied him. Cowell took him along to Daneyirke, where the local wheel-men joined Shorland, and went on to Woodville, which was passed at 9 o'clock this morning, Here the Woodville men took Shorland in hand, and will go on to Pahiatua with him. He will travel from Eketahuua to Maslerton alone, but for the remainder of tho journey, ho will have someone with him. At Woodville, Shorland was very fresh, and he expects to reach Wellington by six o'clock to-night, thus lowering the record by something like ten hours.
