A DOMESTIC TRAGEDY.
MURDER AM.) SUICIDK. (llcceivuil February 2G,10.25 a.m.) Stdxky, February 26. A sad domestic tragedy is reported from Gonlbuni. It appears that the wife of Thomas Cross, licensee of the Robert Burns Hotel, was singing with n young mini, a lodger in the hotel, when Cross enteied the room and objected, and the wife went out and locked herself up in her own room. Cross threatened to break down the door if she did not come out,and said he had a good mind to put a bullet into her.
She then came out of the room and (old him to do so, whereupon he drew a revolver and fired, the shot taking effect behind the ear. On seeing what he had done,Oross placed the revolver to bis own head and shot himself dead. The wife died within an hour.
Crass had been drinking heavily, but it is believed that jealousy is at the bottom of the affair.
