THE COREAN WAR.
(Received February 20,6 p.m.) Tokio, Febrtiniy 25, The Imperial Diet has voted sixteen million pounds sterling with which to continue the war against China, and has also given Corea a ' loan of half a million sterling. Shanghai, February 25. Another large Japanese force is mobilising at Hiroshima, with the intention it is believed, of making a descent upon Formosa. 'Hie Chinese armies at Yi»kow and Niuohang are retreating. It is reported that Li Hung Chang is accredited with the fullest powers to treat with Japan for tho declaration of peace. The Chinese Court is weary of war and it is generally believed that, if tho present mission fails, the Emperor of China will appeal to the Great Powers to step in and bring the war to a close, promising in jtt turn to open a portion of tho coW try to foreigners.
