CARTERTON NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent). Tuesday. Mr W. Cullen, traveller for the Singer's Co., left his horse and gig tied to a, fence in Carterton yesterday afternoon whilst calling at a house, The animal managed to slip the rope and detached the blinkers, and becoming scared, bolted off. It was stopped near tho Recreation Reserve, a couple of miles off, with nothing of the harness left on him but the saddle and collar. The trap was smashed to pieces, and the horse's lip badly lacorated through miming into a wire fence. Mr W. H. Franks, blacksmith, Jta was kicked by a young horse which yQ ho was passing on the side walk. It had never been shod, and was being J led into bis shop, whonitran back and, flinging out its legs, caught Franks fairly in the back, sending him violently against a fence, Dr. Johnson attended the injured man, and found a rib fractured. This morning, he is progressing as well as can be expected.
