Masterton Road Board.
MONTHLY MEETING. The regular monthly meeting of the Masterton Road Board was held on Saturday last. Present-Messrs Holmes (in the chair), Stuckey, Harris, and McKenzie. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Mr Stuckey was appointed to sec Mr Welch with reference to Manning's metalling contract. The Finance Committee's report recommending accounts amounting to £125, for payment was adopted. The Engineer was authorised to effect the necessary repairs to the Pairau Swamp Road, to the extent of the amount available. The consideration of a claim from Mr Maiming for £lO compensation on account of the heavy nature of the work of obtaining gravel for his metalling contract on the OpakiRangituinau Road, was held over until a special meeting, to take place on March 2nd. The Clerk was instructed to request the petitioners for a £2OO loan for metalling on Dorset's Road, to furnish the guarantee for preliminary expenses in case the proposal should be rejected, and upon receipt of the guarantee, the Clerk to make application for provisional approval of the measure. it was resolved to expend thirds on metalling as far as available, as requested by Mr Matthews. The Engineer's report was read and adopted, and the Engineer was authorised to spend the several balances mentioned, as he may dcjni advisable.
