[IIV UAMOUIES.] ! The mutch between Groytown and ' the representative Drapers played at Wellington yesterday, resulted in a draw, cadi team making 50 runs. ' The game was very interesting, and . was watched by a large crowd. As : the last Grey town man went to the - wickets, the couutry team only ' wanted live runs, and excitement ' ran high. Four singles were put • on and the scores were equal. The ' bowler rolled up bis sleeves to make ( the last desperate effort to pull the j match out of the fire, and the bats- ' man opened his shoulders to prepare for the winning hit. But the - hit was never made, and tho bowler ' in his ecstacy turned somersaults, ■ whilst the batsmen left the wickets ' us if they had thrown away a test ' match. The Indies, however, were ; kind, and handed round tea to tho J players during the afternoon. The : Greytowu play the strongest team ' of the week to-day, being a combin- \ ation of the Wellington Club and ' the Opera Company. ' The following team will represent ; Matarawa against Masterlon, on ' Saturday, at Mastcrton:—W. Say- J well, H. Ticelmrst, H. Knowles, K. ' Biddle, J. Gallon, W. Gallon, A. ] Welch, A. Knowles, JE. Welch, A. Gallon, 0. Welch, F. Jones, ,1, Knowles, E. Jones, G. Watcrson. In Adelaide during the recent cricket match, while one of tho Englishmen was chasing a fiver to the top end of the oval, and 6pradling like a tired emu, tho local band struck up" 'E Dunno Whero'e Aro." A case that reached almost tho altitude of inspiration occurred during the visit of Lord Sheffield's team. Alick Bannernian had twicobeen given out l.b.w. to tho English bowlers, and gruml led at the decision as oven Alick vill grumble sometimes. In Sydney, however, he was clean bowled, and the band, which bappened to be playing Gilbert and Sullivan's opera, had just reached the bar-"Of that there can be no matter of doubt,no possible, probable shadow of doubt, no possible donbt whatever." The Secretary of the Wellington Star Cricket Club writes to Mr W, R, Bone informing him that a iteam from the abovo Club will make its usual trip to the Wairarapa at Easter and will be propared to meet a team atMasterton on Easter Monday. Mr Bone iuforms us that considering tho wretched condition of the Oval, ho thinks of suggesting to the Committee, that should Greytown agree to allow tho u6o of their ground j . arrangements be made for a Master- ' ton (earn tp meet the SJars at Grey,
town instead of Masterton, on Easter Monday. The matter, has however, not yet been dealt with by the Committee, It is unlikely that the Stars will agree to this proposal as the team wish to visit Masterton, where mauy of them havo friends.
