GREYTOWN NOTES.

i (From Our Own Correspondent,) Monday. All the business places observed Saturday as the half-holiday in consequence of the ruling of the S.M, in the Magistrate's Court last Wednesday. The town appeared quite deserted. The majority of residents are against Saturday. Mr Walter Bentley lectured here on Saturday evening to a fair audience. He lectured again last evening. Mr Knott, temperance lecturer, is now in this district, and intends giving a lecture witli lime-light views ill the Palace Hall next Thursday evening. I am informed by Mr Knott that after he lias finished his tour of New Zealand he intends visiting England on it lecturing tour more particularly on New Zealand, He is engaged photographing the principal places of interest together with New Zealand's grand scenery. These photos he proposes to show in connection with his lecture. He will (i>.v.) visit the Holy Land. Quite a number of hands are now engaged harvesting at Mr Buchanan's station, between Oreytown and Carterton. Another dwelling is to be erected here shortly. It is about time a boom started in the building trade. The Mutual Improvement Olass meets to-night.
