B Private letters recoived here state g that Captain Fairchild of the Gov- _. eminent steamer Hinemoa, slipped [. on tho deck of the vessel while on i the passage from Weatport to the Bluff, en route to the Southern IslC lands, at the beginning of the month ~ and broke two ribs. Dr Collins, of ;. Wellington, who was on board as a g member of the Governor's party to the Islands, attended to his injuries , r and when the vessel left the Mjrff j. Captain h'airchild was progreSng ut fovourably and it is hoped he will s> soon ho about again.
