Wairarapa Trotting Club.
A general meeting of the members of the above Club was held in the. Club Hotel 011 Friday evening' when | the following members were pre-1 sent—Messrs Do Lisle (Chairman), Hughes, .1. Dixon, 1. Mandel, J. ifcKenzie (Vice-President), Hadley (2), Eoake(Sccretiiry), Allen (Treasurer) and Carter. An apology from Mr Pownull, (President) for unavoidable absence, was received and accepted. It was proposed by Mr McKenzio and seconded by Mr Hadley that the balance sheet be adopted as readCarried. The Secretary reported that about £2O was outstanding for nominations. Owing to difficulties in collecting same, ho had had certain ownersand their horses posted, It was proposed aud carried, that the Secretary again request a settlement. The Secretary also complained of the wily in which certain members had neglected to square up for their membership tickets. Only some twenty-six out of sixty members had paid up. It was proposed and carried, that the Secretary prepare a list of nil members, in arrears and paid up. A good deal of discussion ensued over the question as to where the next meeting, if held at all, should take place. It was decided that in any case the j meeting would be held tho day following the Opaki races on the 17th of March, Mr Hadley proposed and Mr MuKenzie seconded, that the next meeting bo held on the Carterton Pastoral Society's grounds, if satisfactory arrangements could be arrived at for securing them. It was estimated that tho use of the grounds could be had for £lO. Mr Hughes moved an amendment, seconded by Mr Mandel, that the use of the Akura course bo secured at £5. Two meetings had already been held at Carterton, and Masterton only one, and the profits from the latter were in excess of the Carterton meetings. The amendment carried 011 tho easting vote of the Chairman. At this stage the Secretary notified the meeting that he would resign his office, which had entailed great expenditure of money out of his own pocket, aud in return for which, it appeared, he only received more or less amount of abuse. The Chairman said he was sorry to see the Club taking up the position of Carterton mm Masterton, and hoped all differences of that kind would be sunk, as it was the Wairarapa Club, and iu no way specially connected witheithertowns, Mr Hughes was sorry Mr Roake could not see his way to hold ollice, as the success of the Club, and the last meeting in particular, were entirely due to his untiring energy in managing the Club's affairs. These remarks were endorsed by all present. Mr Roake, said he would endeavor to get everything ou the hooks up to the present settled, though he would not go 011 any further with the Secretary's work. At the same time he would iu other ways continue to give his best support to the Club, as in the past. On the motion of Mr Roake, the following gentlemen were appointed a committee to draw up a programme at Carterton,and appoint a Secretary, as soon as possible Messrs Hadloy (2), Sfeey, ■'Vancis, Hughes, Mandel and the Chairman. A vote of thanks to the chair terminated the meeting.
