CARTERTON HORSE FAIR, There wasan unusual ly large attendance of the public at the horse fair held by Jlr F. H. Wood at Carterton yesterday, but apparently very few buyers. About 90 horses were put under the hammer but only about 25 changed hands. More busi-1 ness could undoubtedly have been done had not the reserves been so high. None of the entires were sold, the most spirited competition in this class being for the old general favor ite Forester, for which a bona fide hid of 225 guineas was ottered it was passed in at 250 guineas. It is most likely a sale will be effected privately at that figure, within thenext month or two. Light draughts, 3yrs, unbroken, sold at from £9 to £l4 ; Hacks, from £5 to £l2, A pair of brown buggy horses, .£3O. Trap horses, from £7 to £l7los.
