(Received February 12,7 p.m.) London, February 11. In the House of Commons Mr John Redmond, iu moving his hostile
.imendmeut to tlio Address-in-Reply to the effect that a dissolution should dLake place in order that the question '*f Homo Rule for Ireland might be submitted to the country, said the Government was powerless to pass useful laws for Ireland, and the agitation against tile House of Lords would have tlio effect of indefinitely postponing the Home Rule question. Mr John Morley denounced the amendment, characterising it as unpatriotic and mischievous, and said it was aimed at the best friends of Ireland. Mr Balfour, in supporting the amendment, strongly urged upon the Government, the desirableness of immediately dissolving Parlia-j 4cnt, and said he believed the emocracy shared his views on the matter. Mr Healy contended that- the amendment aimed a deadly blow at Home Rule, On a division being taken, Mr Redmond's amendment was rejected by a majority of 20 votes.
