A blizzard Ims swept the whole of . the Eastern States which has beon , unequalled in severity since 1888. : In the whole of these states the thermometer was below zero, in some ( instances as low as 34 degrees. The velocity of the wind was 72 ' miles an hour. The railways were blocked by drifting snow, and communication was interrupted in all directions. Sandy Hook was partially icebound. London, February 10. In some parts of Scotland tho thermometer lias registered 13 deg. below zero. The Thames docks are partially frozen, and in consequence the unloading of Australian meat is stopped, (Received February lIC p.m.) Nkw York, February 11. The Atlantic liners arriving hero roport having three feet of ice on the decks, and that the weather was something terrible. Nothing lias been seen of the French-American liner Gascoignc, which is now considerably overdue, and lias a large number of people ou board. In many cities in the States people are in danger of starvation owing to the cessation of the train service. The damage to Hie fruit and vegetable crops in Florida is estimated at two million sterling.
