Nothing iu the way of merchandise has b?en missed, but it is evident that an attempt was made to open the safe, and n sum of money iu silver was taken from the till. Fortunately the amount was under a pound, which it is usual for Mr J. Graham (to leave until the very last tiling on Saturday night, when he invariably clears the till, but being extra busy, be omitted to do so last Saturday. Mr Graham thinks that the place was broken into by a professional thief, who was interrupted at his work from some cause or other.

On Sunday morning, Mr I{, T. Holmes also found his business premises had been entered by a back window, and, on examination, found that som.o loose silvev and coppovs. li(i(lbeen stolen, As yet lie has 1 been unable to say whether any of liis goods linvp been removed, Mr Holmes informs us that an attempt was made to get into his place at Christmastime, but tho would-be intruder gave it up after breaking the window.

Business people should be on their guard as it is evident some very uudesirable characters are about,
