CRICKET.

[BY DAMOCLES.] The Greytown Cricket Club will make their annual visit to Wellington shortly, playing the iirst match on the 19th inat. Four inter-club games have been arranged. Last year the country team won all the | matches they were engaged in in the city, and it is to bo hoped they will uphold a like record this season. A representative match between the North and South Islands has been arranged, and will be played at Ohristchurch on the Ist, 2nd and 3rd of March.

Kady, the Tasmanian bat, lias been making someremarkable scores in Club matches lately, and has knocked up several centuries during the past few weeks. His inclusion in the final Australianteamis looked upon as a certainty by Tasmanians. Masterton play Carterton on the Oval to-morrow,and hope to retrieve their laurels. Carterton proved victorious in the last test match, and are now in the lead for the Association's Cup. The team contains cricketers of the first water, and tomorrow's game should prove unusually close and interesting. The visitors play thirteen men.

The Carterton Tradesmen and Masterton Excelsiors met at Carterton, and an interesting game ended in a victory for the home team by 29 runs, after two full innings. The winners made 58 and 'lO, and the Excelsiors 42 and 29. The top scorers for Carterton were E. McKcnzie 24, Lindop 14, and W. McKenzie 15, while for the Excelsiors H. Wrigley 13, J. Wickens 9, and Bagge B,made the best stands. McKenzie and Kiddie bowled for Carterton, and Wrigley and Mason for the Excelsiors.

A match was played between the W.I'.C.A,, C.C., and teams picked from the Fire Brigades, yesterday, which resulted in a win for the latter, by 9 runs. The W.I'.C.A. batted first, and were all put out for the small score of 39, Cooper 7 (not out), and Redmond 8, being tho largest scorers, Hawko 18, and C, Ewington 10, were the largest scorers for the winners.
