THE URIWERA COUNTRY.
(By Telegraph—Press Association). Auckland, Tuesday. Tho Hon. Mr Cadman, now at Huntly, has received a communication from Mr Gordon, who is in the Urcwera country, saying that the inland Natives objected very strongly to the party going in past Mangapobatau, and offered to send a party of four Natives to bring out the samples of stone supposed to be gold-bearing. In deference to their wishes, Mr Gordon decided not to proceed further, but to await the return of these messengers. Mr Gordon mentions that-judging from the formation and tho class of country, he is not very much impressed with it as a gold-bearing country.
