A large amount of business was transacted in conncc'iou with the opening of the District Grand Lodge, which is to take place this morning, commencing at 9 o'clock. Tho inaugural ceremony will bo conducted by Bro. Ryan (Grand President) and Bro. Brenan (Grand Secretary) who have both come from Melbourne for the purpose. P.D.G.P. Tully is hero as tho accredited representative of tho District Grand Lodgo of Canterbury, and is accompanied by D.G.P, Thomson, P.D.P, Swinnerton and P.D.P. Rose. A selection was made on Saturday of the brethren who arc to bo inducted to-day as officers of the new District Grand Lodge,—N.Z. ST. MATTHEWS SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNUAL DISTRIBUTION OF PRIZES. The annual distribution of prizes among the scholars at St. Matthew's Sunday School, took place in tlio Church at the end of the Children's Service, on Sunday lust, a very largo number of scholars and parents being present. Mrs Tableau's special prizes to the two best scholars in tho Boys' and Girls' Bible Class, were awarded to Misses Agnes Eobins and Lena Newman, in the Girls' Bible Class; and to Masters Goorge and Tom Cullen, in the Boys' Bible Class.
