THE CUREAN WAR.
(Received February 3,8 p.m.) Siungiui, February 2.
The resistance offered by some of the forts at Weihaiwei is regarded as feeble, in view o£ the natural strength of the Chinese force. Tho latter'B warships maintained a heavy tire, and many of the forts wero stubbornly defended, but the majority wore captured in a few hours. Both aides lost heavily, but the Japanese captured an onormous quantity of munitions of war. It is reported that ono of the Japanese warships wore disabled, and two torpedo boats wero sunk. The tiro of the Chinese fleet was conducted from anohorago in Jhe harbour. A (Received February 4,10.55 a.m.) London, Fobruary 3. Tho Yokohama correspondent of the News Agency wires that it is officially announced that on tho exchange of credentials the powers given to the Chinese Envoys, deputed to treat for peace, were fonnd to be utterly defective, and Japanese Government has declined to enter into negociations with them, The Envoys depart to-morrow under tho protection of tho Japanese authorities,
