FIRE AT AUCKLAND.
A BOY LOSES HIS LIFE.
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) Auckland, Friday. A block of shops at Karangahapo road, owned by Mr Potter, have been destroyed by lire. A boy, seven years of ago,son of Mr Clcal, fruiterer, supposed to bo placed in safety, was afterwards found burned to death in the ruins. Others had narrow escapes. The total loss is estimated at £2,000.

•Auckland, Friday. The building in which tlic lire originated, was occupied by I'Jlins. ('leal, fruiterer, the other shop destroyed, being occupied by Potter, a eoachbuihler; bolh were owned by Poller. The adjoining biiildiujr. which W,IS gutted. Wits owned by Mclverras.and occupied by Weir, as a fancy eoods shop. The insurances were—on Cleal's building, £650 in the N.Z., and stock £SOO in the Palatine. Potter's dwelling, £l5O in (ha X.Z., and piano, £SO in the South British. Woir's shop, £IOO in the Phoenix; contents,£6o in the Commercial Union.
