FEATHERSTON NOTES.
(From Our Own Correspondent), Thursday. A special meeting of the Town Board was hold last evening, to fix the half-holiday according to tho Shop and Shop-assistants Act. The members of the Board present were Messrs Jas. Donald (chairman), J. G. Cox, C. Cundy, W. Benton, W. Hodder, junr,and W. Nicole. Mr Cox addressed the meeting at some length and, concluded by proposing that tho day of tho half-holi-day should be Thursday. This was Bsconded by Mr Benton, but on a show of hands being taken, the following was the voting :—ln favour of Thursday; Nicole, Cox, Donald; against Thursday; Hodder, Cundy, Benton. Tho Chairman gave [his casting vote in favour of Thursday, which was declared carried.
The following tenders were received for painting the Board office: W. Pointon, £9 5s (accepted); A. O'Neal, £9los; C. Skippage, £9l3* 6d.
This concluded tho business of the meeting.
