GREYTOWN NOTES.

(From Our Own Correspondent,) Wednesday. Yesterday our town was well provided with amusements. The annual Wesleyan circuit picnic was held in Mr J. Wilkie's paddock, proving in every way a great success, and outshining all provious picnics held. The gathering was a largo and rep. resentative one, there being fully 500 personß present. There were «;ral visitors from Wellington. ■ Maaterton contingent numbered o upon a hundred, while Carterton and other districts were largely represented. The usual games and amusements of all kinds were indulged in. The refreshment department was well patronised; the takings amounting to over £BO, and after expenses are paid, there should bin dear profit of £25. The provisions were provided by the ladies of the circuit congregation, and they deserve much praise for their liberality. A largo numborj interested in shooting, visited Papawai yesterday and to-day, the Wellington and Hutt Rifle Clubs being well represented. The weekly meeting of the Mutual Improvement Olaes, was hold last Monday evening, when a paper on Dancing, was read by Mr J. Harvey, after which a discussion followed. A good audience was present. The Rev. S. J.
