SERIOUS RESULTSEXPECTED (Received January 23,1 a.m.) A Sydsky, January 2a. 1 Oirag to the great floods beyond Newcastle, railway communication with Queensland is interrupted. Heavy easterly gales are raging along the coast, and are accompanied by exceptionally heavy rain. It is feared that there will be a repetition of the great of 1893 flood iu tho Newcastle district. The northern rivers are rising with an alarming rapidity, and tho boats are being prepared in expect ation of another serious calamity. The farms and land around West Muitlaml arc already inundated, thewaterTajjating. (Received January 23,11 a.m.) Bhisiux'k, January 23. Tho water has slightly abated in the low-lying parts, ami no serious « damage in now anticipated. The weather is, however, still threatening'.
