GREYTOWN NOTES.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Friday.

YCBterday afternoon, several business places were closed, others remained open. This goes to prove that although the Borough Council decided upon Saturday for the halfholiday, it has not given general satisfaction. The Auckland City Council, in my opinion, has taken the wisest step in leaving it for Government decision.

Mrs Greenwood, who died at the Upper Hutt, last Wednesday, was a sister of Mrs J. Wilkie, of this town. The deceased lady was among tho oldest residents in the Hutt District, and well-known and highly respectod, She has been a groat sufferer during the last twelve months. She leaves a large grownup family.
