CRICKET.
[BY DAMOCLES.J MATARAWA v. EXCELSIORS. A team of the Excelsior Club went to Matarawa yesterday, and received such a drubbing at the hands of the local team that several of the vanquished ones intend to letire on their laurels. Notwithstanding the severe beating, our boys are loud in the praises of the Matarawa team as" jolly good fellows," the visitors being treated to a welcome seldom experienced by cricket teams in the Wairarapa. The spread provided was the best item of the day- at least to the Masterton boys—and there are those iu the team who would like a return journey next week. The game needs little description, as the scores will show the vast difference between the teams, Excelsiors, Harland, c and b Gallon ... 3 Emmett, b Ticehurst 0 Bagge, b Gallon 5 H.
