ABDUCTION.

(ByTelograph.—Press Association). Auckland, Wednesday, A inau named Joseph Buchanan, for abducting a young girl, has been sentenced to nino months imprisonment.

Mr Northcroft, S.M., said that it had been shown that Buchanan was a partuer and friend of the girl's father, and was living in the house, in virtue of thin position, as one of the family. He had afterwards obtained a situation for her in a house where, as the girl had said, no one had been as servant before herself. This place, it had been shown, was situated near defendant's home at Mount Eden. Taking all these circumstances into consideration, he thought it was a most painful ease for him to go through. He could scarcely have imagined that a man, a married inati, could have been so base as the defendant was shown to be tlirougout this case, lie sentenced him tonine months' imprisonment with hard labour.
