j (From Our Own Correspondent). On Wednesday last, Mr Mulvay, a well-known athlete in this district, was charged by the police, before Mr | 8.. P. Johnson, J.P., v ith having caused a disturbance on Saturday night, in the hall, during Professor Cotcking's entertainment. Defend- ; ant pleaded guilty, and was fined 5s and costs, It is hoped the J.P.'s reproof and warning will have the desired effect in keeping down the ! strong larrikin element which has pervaded this otherwisequiet district ■during the holidays. - ■ The district has been visited with splendid rains during the last'few days, and settlers are expressing pleasure' on all sides as there is' a [prospectofab^d^^,. ;i . ,- : ■
