SUPPOSED SUICIDE.
A Young Girl Drowned in the Ruamahunga. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Peathehsion, Saturday.,:-* Quite a gloom™ eaat over the* district by the sad news this morning of the death of Miss Maggie Mason, of Kaiwaiwai, whose body was found in the Ruamahunga this morning, just below the bridge on theFeatherston-Martinboroughroad. From particulars to hand, it seems that the unfortunate young woman. who was only nineteen years old, and who was servant as Mr McLeod'g, Maryborough, went out last even. mg leaving a letter behind her, the , contents of which are not known yet, but it evidently gave reasons for the gravest fears, as a party were out looking for her all night, and this morning she was foundas above, by two young men named FellinjA ham and Biddel. It points to a determined case ot suicide, as the body was made fast with a line to a flax busb, evidently with the intention of. preventing its being carried down the river. The parents of the deceased who are away at Hunteryille and the brothers who are up at Stratford, have' been telegraphed t0..; Th 6' bddy:has' been taken .into Martinboroagh, toawait - tlteinquest. .. \,;.h,.vv" r s?£' %t#onjDistfiot:iCoroner, ■' received ; wprd . tbis' !; moniing,-;and ' Mtlfl an inquest this ofienaooa; H •
