Ordinary Meeting. The ordinary monthly meeting or the Council was held yesterday present Crs. von Eeden, (chairman) Cockburn Hood, R. Maunsell, D. Guild, and E, Smith. MINUTES. CONFERENCE RE WAIPOUA BRIDGE, The action of the conference which met to considerwliat steps should be taken with respect to the lepairs to the Waipoua Bridge, was confirmed. ACCOUNTS. Tho minutes of the finance committee were read and adopted and the accounts recommended were passed for payment. Napier's crossiko. Cr Smith proposed that the Clerk be instructed to take steps to raise a loan of £6OO for the purpose of erecting a bridge over the Tiraumea river at Napier's Crossing. ' Seconded by Cr Guild and carried. A committee was appointed to draw out a special rating area for the above loan. GENERAL. Leave was granted to. MrF, C, Tumor to erect a horso post in front of his premises at Eketahuna, subject to the approval of the Eugineer. Leave of absence was granted to , Crs Handysido and Stuckey, and ' leave of absence for three weeks was < granted to Mr H. Perry, the assistant clerk, on account of ill-health. The clerk was authorised to procure extra clerical assistances for! preparing the Valuation Roll. ] A letter was read from the Lands Department, re grant for a bridge ( over the Tiraumea. It was resolved to inform the Minister, that steps were being taken to raise a loan to > supplement the grant. j The resignation of the poundkeeper at Mauriceville was received and accepted, and the Clerk was instructed to take 6teps in conjunction with the Mauriceville Road Board to appoint a new poundkeeper. j Tho Clerk and Engineer were in- ] structed to carry out the recommendations of the conference re repairs to the Waipoua bridge and proclamation. i A letter was read from Mr 6, ] Townsend, junr,, accepting terms of lease for reserve atTaueru.

On the motion of Cr Smith, seconded by Cr Beetham, was resolved that tho Engineer be instructed to lay out balance of loan in accordance with Mr Neilson's application, and that the Clerk write to the Commissioner of Crown Landß n Messrs Neilsou and Donald's thirds. On the motion of the Chairman it was decided conditionally, to publish certain advertisements relating to the Eketahuna Riding in the Express. The Engineer's report was read and adopted, It was resolved that the acceptance of the second lowest tender for contract No, 45, Eketahuna to Tenui Road, stand over till next meeting to give Cr Smith an opportunity to consult the Works Committee, It was decided that Mr Napier's thirds be allocated for metalling the approach to Tiraumea Bridge No 1 Repairs to the roadman's cottage at Tiraumea were authorised, It was proposed by Cr Smith, seconded by Cr Beetham and carried, that the contractors on Saunders' Road be advised that the penalty for nou-complotion of their contract within contract time, will be inflicted, Resolved that tho thirds from Messrs Moms Bros, landinPuketoi, be set apart to make up a deficiency in the loan, On the motion of Cr Smithseconded by Cr Beetham, it was resolved that Mr Davis be authorised to remove the obstruction placed by Messrs Lee and Hamlin on the road leading to his property, and that Messrs Lee and Hamlinbe informedaccordingly, The Council then rose.
