FEATHERSTON NOTES.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Wednesday. Ou Monday evening the monthly meeting of the Town Board lapsed for want of a quorum, Commissioners Cox, Candy, and W. Hodder, junr., only being present. The subject of tho half-holiday should have come under consideration. Some of the storekeepers are in favour of the old day (Thursday) beingretained, whilo some of the public hold that Saturday is the most convenient day. Last evening a meeting of milk suppliers of the N.ZF.D.U., was held at the Oddfellows Hall, a great deal of dissatisfaction being expressed about the test, and it was shown that when Mr Burch come up and tested on the spot, that when the tests were entered in the books, they were mixed up, After some lengthy discussion tho following resolutions were passed:—" That the suppliers pay Is 6d each per month for one month, so that Mr Burch may come up four times in tho month and take tests on the spot.". The second resolution was," That the milk suppliers stronglj protest againsttlie reduction of 7| per cent., and are of opinion that instead of a reduction being made on their milk, there should be a reduction in the working expenses, especially at Wellington, and they consider that the directors should take into consideration the lib of butter to the gallon of milk, which they give over the quantity required by tho Dairying Act."
