Stoddart's innings was almost faultless. He gave one possible chance to Jarvis at the wickets, when at 113, and ten runs later played one in dangerous proximity to Trumble in the slip. Giffen had a hundred runs scored off him before taking a wicket. Several of the Englishmen declared Gregory's catch, which dismissed Richardson, was the finest they ever witnessed. The match is considered to be played under perfectly oven conditions.

The non-Unionists from Gorta mines have visited town in order to protect themselves from molestation, came armed with revolvers. An angry demonstration was made against them by the assembled miuers, and on the advice of the police, the Freemen retired.and what i appeared likely.to be a riot was avoided. Adelaide, Jan. 2.
