DEATH OF MR B.P. PERRY.

Mi'B. P, Peiay, anothei' old settler, passed away at an early hour on Christmas morning. His death was not unexpected, as for some time j past lie lias been suffering from a paralytic stroke. The deceased was the owner of a very considerable property near the Waingawa, and the father of a large family. Of late yoars ho has relinquished the cares of property to the hands of his sons, and has resided in Masterton. Till the infirmities of old ago prevented him he took an active share in many (social and religious functions, and was a member of the Hospital Trust and other local institutions. The late Mr Perry was born in Cornwall in 1818, and was therefore 76 years of ago at the time of his death. Ho came to Now Zealand with liia father and Mi 1 Walter Perry, and other members of his family in 1841 in. the Amelia Thompson, the pas - sage occupy ing no less than 6 months. The family first sottled at New Plymouth and Mr 13. P. Perry and his. father wero ; Herat the first to take an active int ra in the Taranaki ironsand, and made several efforts to get a company floated to carry on the work. In 1855 Mr Perry was united to a daughter of the late Mr Masters, the original founder of Masterton, and shortly afterwards came to this district where ho has sinco resided. The faneral of the deceased took place this morning, servico at tho .grave being conducted by the Rev. Robert Wood and Kev. W. Rowse, ;and a largo number of friends and relatives being present.
