The New South Wales Colliery Dispute.
A General Strike hmi (Received December 20, 0.40 a.m.) Sydney, December 20. The South Clifton Colliery in the Southern District has notified a reduction in the hewing rate to an average of Is 9d, A meeting of tho Miners Delegates Board at Newcastle discussed the notices of reduction issued lately, : and resolved not to submit to them. It was also decided to recommend an advance of 4d per ton, to take effect on January 14th. If this resolution is endorsed by the districts a general strike must r follow. One of the largest colliery, proprietors Btatea that the action of the men will be the means of bringing the masters together again,..:' Some, understanding or agreement must be arrived at to protect; them from the encroaohments of the men and fixsuoh price for coal as.will return ; a fair profit, ■ while; winning back.' from the southern and New Zealand ' j collieries, the trade •; taken ■ away.'
