If , FOOTPATHS, Cr Feist moved that the paths in '■ Qneen-stroet towards Kunpuni be tarred anA sanded. Cr Hornblow thought the money could bo spent to greater.advantnge in tho outlying streets, They ought to pay a little moro attontion to the •wants of ratepayers in the outskirts. Ho also wished to see what came of the "proposal to sand and tar the path iu Lincoln road. Ho would niQvo as an amendment that the ; matter stand over, If anything was done at all it should be properly asphalted, The Mayor said tho piece of path past Mr Johnston's store was very muddy in winter. Tho property owners (Messrs Renall and the Town Lands Trust) were not likely to > agree to have asphalt put down, and | ho thought Cr Feist's suggestion a it good one, |jj£ Cr Feist, in reply, thought tho work most inexpensive and very necessary, In other parts tar and sand paths had proved a success. ' The Mayor moved that the Town .Clerk be instructed to take action under the By-laws, for any infringementof the regulations re unlicensed halls or places of amusements-Car-ried, A PROPOSITION, The Mayor moved that CrsWaijg, Hessey, Feist and the mover be appointed a Committeo to obtain plans and specifications for a new concrete gas tank, to bo laid before next meeting, Tho work would have to be undertaken. He was creditably informed that a concrete tank at Palmerston stood well. Tho work should cost about £3OO. Cr Cullen said he hoped that the Committee would get an expert's opinion of the best kind of tank. He was of opinion that a pyramid built up in the centre of the tank would relieve the pressure on the walls. Tho motion was earned. COMMITTEES, Tho Mayor said there was an opinion amongst Councillors that tho various Committees might be re-constructed, He mentioned it so that tho matter might bo dealt with after the installation of Mayor. On tho motiou of Cr Cullen the Council adjourned.
