Masterton v Morrison's Bush.
The cup match between the above teams was played on tho Oval on Saturday, resulting in a win for the visitors by 15 runs. Masterton had a job to make up a team, and bad to obtain tho assistance of players on the ground. Some of the chosen ones were unable to leave business, whilst others objected to play on tho Oyal. The Bush men had tho handicap of sixteen moil, and made good use of their full equipment in tho field. Although tho Masterton men knocked the bowling around considerably, the number of fieldors kept the scoring low, and three were unsatisfactorily runout. Tho ;number of batsmen too, for tho visitors seemed unending and completely tired out the local bowling, With ton wickets down tho visitors had only 38 runs, and it was tho tail end that scoopod tho victory. It would have been far better had tho several teams in the district been handicapped, by a certain number of runs than by mon and would have been mora satisfactory to all concerned. Masterton scored 51 runsin their innings, Dowsor playing fine cricket for his 18, and Broad contributing nine in pretty style. The Bush inado 66, Jewell hitting out on all sides for 12, i and Hodgo stubbornly stonewalling for his innings ofeloven. The bowling of Broad and Dowser was extremely fast, and, owing to tho humpy nature of the ground, gave the long-stop no end of trouble, no less than fourteen byes being registered. Tho following were the scores:—
