News from Fiji reports that Sir J. B. Thurston visited tho South Solomon Islands which lust year were brought under British protecttion. Tho Natives ovorywhero Roemcd grateful for the clmngo and submitted many important questions for decision. Sir J, B. Thurston was favourably impressed with tho capabilities of tho Islands. In a number of places tho natives are still superstitious, hostile, and eminently savago, though a great change for the better has taken place sinco last year. Tho salo of arms will ho visited with severe penalties,
