(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent). Friday. The Juvenile Oddfellows hold their social to-night in tho Palace Hall. There is no doubt of tho affair proving successful, as tho committee of management have done all in their power to make it so. Another social is to bo held hero next Tuesday, this ouo will be run by the Band of Hope, Business is not very brisk down onr way. Cannot some experienced minor make a " find" in the Tarnruas ?
A steady downpour of rain set in here early last night and continued until an early hour this morning doing much good, The weather is fine to-day.
A traveller from Wollingtou with a lino of boots opened up here last week and was selling at astonishingly low prices. This oven did not draw the cash and tho gentleman in question had in consequence to quit. I expect the cash is boing saved up for the circus. An accidont which niiplit have ended seriously befel Mrs Merson, at Greytown yesterday. It appears while trying to catch a horse the animal kicked her in tho face. Dr 13ey was railed in anil attended to the sufferer,
