The Poundkecpor's report for the past month was read and received, u.d.ci. noiun, On the motion of Cr Cull™ seconded by Cr Feist, HisWofship was authorised to exercise the Council's vote in the election of a member for the United District Charhablo Aid Hoard. On the motion of Cr Cullen seconded by CrYntcs.His Worship wasauthorised to vote for himself and Cr Feist, as members of the Wairarapa District Hospital Board. FINANCE AXl> WOIIKS. The report of the Works and Finance Committee was read and adopted. ACCOUNTS. Accounts amounting to £IOO Is 7d were passed for payment. • • OABWOBKB COMMITTEE. Tho minutes of the meeting of committee appointed to consider tho gasworks question were read. His Worship said that Cr Homblow mentioned that certain works ordered, had not been carried out, He did not think this was correct. ' Cr Feist said he considered the ap- i pointment of this special committee was | ill-advised. Cr Cullen moved the adoption of the . report, seconded by Cr Homblow and ] carried. , _ obdikart nrsim*. Cr Feist suggested that certain road f works at Kunpuni should be attended to and the footpath tarred. This was t left in the lianas of the Works Com- i mittee. j WAIBABAPA RELIEF FUND . As contributions to this fund were j only coming in slowly His Worship moved that the Town Clerk get a man to canvass the town for subscriptions. The Clerk stated that he had endeavoured to obtain information from Wei- £ lington what funds would he required, c but had not got any reply. It was t generally considered that more would ( be collected than was actually neces- .- sary. ,

Cr Ciillcn proceeded to refer to the disposal of funds collected for the Queensland floods, when His Worship said that the motion was not seconded.

Cr Ctillen replied that he would second the motion whatever it was. After further discussion the motion was withdrawn.

In reply to Cr Hornblow, His Worship said that the Committee had not yet done anything re widening Terry-st,, as no reply had been received from Mr McKcnzie.

In reply to Cr HornblowHis Worship said that there was no contract for extra sarting at present. There was not much carting to do since the Borough had got their own horse. He was of opinion that the present arrangement should continue in the meantime.

Cr Hornblow stated that the repairs were not quite finished, and the enjiiic was to be sent back so that the overhaul could be completed, ' t On the motion of CrCullcn the Council adjourned.
