Sergeant McArdle said that the polico knew of nothing against tho character of tho accused prior lo this olfonce, His Honour said lie would puss the comparatively light sontencc of 12 months' imprisonment with hard labour. lIORSB-STKAI.IXfi. JohnMcßae pleaded guilty to stealing a horse and saddlo at Yy-_-j-.il. „. o-i.L... n n.. perty of Mr H. H. Beetlmm, and a bridle, saddle, etc., the property of Henry Broker. Tho prisoner was ordered to come np for sentencoonTuesday morning. ROBERT CROCKER. Robert Crocker pleaded not guilty to the chargo of burglary at Mr J. 0. Walkor'a residenco, Opaki, but pleaded guilty to tho charges of receiving stolen goods. He was remanded until this (Tuesday) morning. Sentences. WkIiMNGTon, Tuesday. Sentences in tho Supremo Court are as follows:—Hurao,convicted of assaulting his wifo and twisting her by tho arm until it broke, two years hard labour. Ho had been convicted of sevoral previous assaults on his wifo.

Kimberloy, an old man, chargcdwithßtoalingauovorcoatand shirt, was remanded for medical examination. The gaoler said lie appeared to bo rathorweak inbis mind. ltobcrt Crocker, burglary at Opakiaud llastorton, 15 months, John Lindsay pleaded guilty to faar' chargos of forgery and false Aetences. He has been previously "convicted of forgery. Sentenced to 2 years' hard labour.
