In : past years we have, on more than one occasion, considered it our duty io criticise adversely the balance shect.of the Mastorton-Opaki Jockoy Club. We are in receipt of tho statement for the year ended on tho' 31st of July lust, and it'is vbry gratifying to find that it honestly merits commendation. TheClubcouimeiiced the year with a credit balance at the Bank: of £64 Is Id and ended it with a credit of £ll6 15s lid, Its liabilities, too, aro a little less than they' wore, a:year ago, and its assets a little larger. This is as it should bo; and Mr E. H, Waddington, the Secretary, deserves credit for the improved financial status of the Club. At the time he took it over it was not all that could bo desired, and we recognise that tlie present result is the outcome of careful management,
