GREYTOWN NOTES.

Wednesday. There is not one available shop in the town now, as the result of competition. . : Mr Mandel, tobacconist, of Masterton, has started a branch business here. Another shop was opened here yesterday, ' .. The annual election for the Mayoralty takes place here this month. At present there'appears to lib very little interest manifested in the election, Greytown all over,! The present Mayor (Mr J. D.Heagerty) I believe intends seeking re-election for another term, and as he has' done as much for the town as any previous Mayor, doubtless the ratepayers will be pleased to welcome him back to that office onco more.
There appeal's to be some very evilly-disposed persons in the neighbourhood of Featherston, At tlio lato picnic held there several articles of value were Btolon off tho ground. A young man from Greytown lost a rug whioh'was stolen from his buggy,and I believe a South Featherston lady lost a vaiuablo shawl, This kind of petty tliiovingshould be put down by the polieo. The Band of Hope met Musual last Monday ovening. A sociiLwill be held shortly in aid of the funds. I was sorry to see so many ohil« ■ dron. allowed on tho Recreation Reserve on Sunday atternoon instead of attending tho Sunday School. "V.
