Two persons returned from N w Australia Settlement state that tho people are in terrible straits. They are unable to return aud can hardly exist wliero they are. November 12. Very hot weather lias been experienced throughout the Colony, and there has been severe atmospheric disturbances with rapid changes. Tho thermometer fell i"> degrees in' Sydney in four hours yesterday, and tho. barometer rose half an inch, tho most rapid recorded here. The storm centre passed to the southward, in the direction of N.Z. Perth, November 13.
Serious depredations by wild Natives arc reported, They attacked Leonard Station, where the police party wero outnumbered, and Constable Ricbardsonand two stockmen were killed, A native contingent of the polico force deserted to tho aboriginals, who have captured 1000 rounds of ammunition and a largo quantity of stores. The Government has decided to despatch a punitive expedition. A constitutional difficulty has arisen between the Legislative Council and the Assembly over the former's amendments in the Municipal Bill. The Colonial Secretary upholds the Council's right, declaring that both houses aro practically Houses of Commons,
