Dukkdix; Saturday. One of tho severest tropical downpours of rain and hail ever experienced came on this afternoon at live. The clouds gathered swiftly, and rain and hail fell almost in a body. Tho hailstones were remarkably large, and the lightning vivid! . The streets were flooded in a few seconds, and as the downpour continued shops were Hooded. Thousands of pounds' worth of damage was dono in Machiggan and Eattray strccts,whiuuavo the outlets for the discharge from the hills. Empty tanks were to bo seen floating down lheslreets,aiid the channels in some streets were torn up. ' ■ . Cellars in Rattray street were flooded, and probably also many warehouse cellars in IJondaiid Lower High'streots. ; In Princes-street Urßraithwaito sun'eredsoverely,an(linGeorge-streefc the loss of many shopkeepers is very heavy. • '; '
