The Society was.favoured with Queen's weather yesterday for their Second Day's Show, the heat being' modified by a gentle westerly breeze which made it pleasant without bciiigstrong enough to raise the dust, The attendance was the largest on record, as there must have been between 6000 and 7000 people on the ground. Tho takings at the gates amounted to £lB5 ]3s Gd, of this only a small sum was taken on Thursday, and together with the Grandstand the respectable sum of £22113s 6d was received, this is somo £4O in excess of last year. During the leaping match Mr D, McLaren, eldest son of Mr Robert McLaren of the Lower Valley fell from his horse and was seen to be seriously ill, Dr Bey, who wos oh tho ground, was promptly in attendance, but the unfortunate man succumbed in a few moments, it is supposed from apoplexy, or heart disease. Although the day was a drouthy one and the publican's booth did a rattling trade, there was an entire absence of drunkcimess,so tho duties of Constable Darby and his assistants were purely nominal.
