The weekly meeting of the North Wairarapa Liberal Association was held on Monday evening, Mr C. Hughes presiding. The business was of a routine nature. The proposed testimonial social lo Mr A. W. Hogg, was discussed, and all business transacted at previous meetings with reference to the social was rescinded. A number of ladies were present and asked that the sole management of the social be handed over to them, and they would call in the assistance of Mr A. Yile The whole management of the social was, by resolution, then handed over to the ladies present with power to add lo their number. The date for holding the social was fixed for the first Thursday in December. Messrs P. and D. Duncan. The N.Z. Times has it on good authority that Mr J, E. FitzGcrald, Controller and Auditor-General, lias sent in his resignation to tho Government. Loud complaint was made of the scant first-class accommodation on the special train which left Masterton after the Show last Thursday evening, There were four second-class compartments nearly empty, and only two firstclass compartments, one of which was a "smoker,' 1 but both of which were packed to suffocation point. The result was that ladies had to stand on the platform as far as Feathcrsfon, and even the smokers grumbled .-at the crush, The car classiiication should be better proportioned unless it is intended to force people to travel second-class.
