Of. courso, in ' addition to the above, we have as managers the Mayor, Gas Committee, Town Clerk, and Assistant Town Clerk. With a financial result of some 16s. per cent, interest oninvested capital, and the whole thing standing disgrace to the community, would it not be woll that candidates for Mayor should let us know their opinion on this matter. Would it not be better that' a manager, who ub a business mail should be competontto take entire chargo of the works and business, be • appointed, and make him responsible ■ for its success, doing away with the divided authority and the petty patronage so dear to Councillors' hearts, but none tho less detrimental to successful business.
