Music in the Park.

[to iue editor, w.d. times.]

Sin,—l am sorry to see by the report of the last meeting of the Park Trustees, that a resolution was passed practically baningthe musicloving community from hearing an occasional Sunday afternoon musical programmogiven by a Band.. Last Summer a good Band played out sevoral times, and the music was always appreciated by considerable numbers, who, I understand, did not

begrudgo giving their mites towards the espouses. For it is not to be expected that a company of young men will give their time, trouble, and talent without some recognition of appreciation from the public, A band, as well as any other company, has numerous expenses, and now instruments and the latest music cannot be obtained without funds. Howevor, the Park Trustees havo ruled that subscriptions must not be solicited at tho gates of the Park, and no decent band will play for the love of being heard, and it is, perhaps useless writing ou the subject. I hear it mooted that Lansdowno Hill, or somo other convenient place will be selected by our musicians during the coming Summer on line Sundays, and I sincerely, hope no further obstacle will be placed in the way of

Good Music. [Collecting money at the (jute has been prohibited, but there is nothing to prevent a collection being mado in tho vicinity where the band usually plays.—Ed. W.D.T.]
