Spring Show OFHCEKS.

President, Mr W. H. Bcctham; VicePresidents, Messrs Dr Moment, AA. Elkins and John Tuckor; Committee, Messrs W. Sinnns, J. Billing, ton, E. Collolte, H. Broom, sour,'J Berriman ) P.Murray I A,ViIc,J. Stono E. Hale, P. W. Parker, D. S. Papworth, T. Gardner, J. N. Bruuton, W. Gillespio; Secretary, Mr T. Gillespie; Treasurer, J. Carponter. Tho Spring Show of the abjvo Society was bold yesterday. In many respects tho exhibition was a capital ono, but tho backward season intofored considerably with the entries. I'horo was, however, a fine display of potplants, particularly the collections lent by Mesdames Beetham and Caselberg, some of which were really superb. The attendance in the afternoon was fairly good, while at night the large Drill Hall was packed, During the evening the Masterton Orchestra under Mr A. von Keisenberg, rendered a splendid programme of music, which was highly commented upon and listened to with great appreciation by the large number of people prosent, The Orchestra numbered I'2l performers and is undoubtably one of the best this side of Wellington, A fine collection of fancy work was on yiew for exhibition only and also several very rare plants and

flowers. The Museum oxhibits kindly lent by Mr It; Brown, lent additional interest to the, Show, many expressing surpriso at the fact that the collection had grown so large. Tho work done by Mr Thos.Collier's patent cold water scour attracted a lot of notice. A considerable quantity of wool operated upon was on view, showing theloss of weight by his process to be about 20 per ceiit less than the old method, dead wool, half-bred combing losing only 20 per cent; pure Liucoln 20 per cent. and merino clothing 30 per cent. A inagnificant bedroom suite, turned out by Messrs Houuslow and Hoar to the order of a Masterton resident, was a feature of tho show. Tho suite, with the addition of a bedstead, not exhibited by the firm, would fill a room 40 x 40, though shown in a much smaller space. Tho design is a good one and the workmanship retlcote tho greatest credit upon the firm. The Secretary, Mr T. Gillespie, and the members of the Committee all worked hard and deserve credit for their successful management of the exhibition, The prize list is ns follows:
